Lifetime Network announced yesterday that its longest running scripted series will not be returning for an eighth season. The show, which followed the lives of spouses and their families of active military members on base, premiered in 2007 and was one of the first TV series to film in Charleston.
Kim Delaney, Brooke Shields, Catherine Bell, Ashanti, Torrey DeVitto, and Jesse McCartney have all appeared on the series in the past, but the seventh season saw a cast shake-up with the addition of new actors (Ashanti, DeVitto, and Shields to name a few). The new characters and story lines sadly did not equal more viewers, and the seventh season saw a decrease of more than half a million viewers on average.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is planning a two-hour retrospective on the series to air early next year. Having called Charleston home for the past six years, the general manager of Lifetime, Rob Sharenow, thanked the Holy City for our "dedication, effort, and loyalty."
