Terrace Theater will screen Aretha Franklin 1972 church performance, "Amazing Grace," starting Friday

Amazing Aretha

Starting this Fri. April 26, the Terrace screens something pretty remarkable: recently discovered performance footage of Aretha Franklin singing at L.A.'s New Bethel Baptist Church in 1972.

You can catch Amazing Grace five times each day, April 26-May 2. Tickets are now available online.

The Terrace teams up with Mt. Zion AME church, the Charleston Gospel Choir, the Avery Center for racial studies, and Monster Music to donate $1 from each ticket sold to Mt. Zion for the duration of the film's run.

Theater owner Paul Brown says, "As a cornerstone for our community, the Terrace is extremely proud to be part of this exciting event."

Amazing Grace has been described by NPR as "nothing short of a revelation, soaring from one chill-inducing moment to another." The New Yorker says, "Its very existence is a miracle."
