No charges in McMaster threat case

Several weeks ago, the State Law Enforcement Division provided additional security for Attorney General Henry McMaster. The GOP gubernatorial candidate's life had allegedly been threatened in a note left in a bank drop box on Dorchester Road.

SLED would not offer any more information regarding the note, other than a reference to "Jesuits," whom are Catholic (which McMaster is not).

All so mysterious … but it turned out to be nothing to be concerned about.

"SLED has identified and talked with the person who wrote the communication and has determined that the individual poses no threat of harm to McMaster," says SLED spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons in a release today. "SLED also determined that the reference to “Jesuits” was not related in any way to a threat against the Attorney General."

No charges will be made, according to Timmons.
