Where to get the perfect Finale picnic spread

Packing Meat

The Spoleto Finale isn't just about the incredible setting at Middleton Place, the music from Cedric Watson and Bijou Creole, or the newly added beer garden. It's also about packing the perfect picnic — and many local companies have offered to take the guesswork out of this all-important task.

Ted's Butcherblock has two convenient picnic basket options. For $15, you can purchase a charcuterie platter for two that includes a house-made chicken liver mousse, country pate, cured meats, cheese, and a crostini or fresh baguette. If you opt for Ted’s Picnic in a Bag, you’ll get Manchego cheese, sliced Genoa salami, a crostini, marcona almonds, grapes, a bottle of wine (white or red) and a bottle of water. For $30, this option serves two and includes cups, napkins, plates, and utensils. For more information, call (843) 577-0094.

Caviar & Bananas sells a variety of picnic baskets, like The Weekender ($102), which includes a variety of locally made snacks and sparkling wine. “For the Entertainer” ($16)0) includes gourmet cookies, crackers, olives, dipping oil, dip, nuts, bruschetta, and Veuve Cliquot. Call (843) 577-7757 for more.

On Daniel Island, Laura Albert’s Tasteful Options' featured picnic package feeds two for $25 and includes a cheese and fruit plate with a bottle of sparkling wine. For $30, you can choose the “Let’s Snack” basket, which features Laura’s Trio — crab dip, shrimp paste, and pimento cheese with crackers — and homemade chicken salad, plus a bottle of sparkling wine. And “Let’s Play” includes chicken salad croissants and fresh fruit. Laura Albert’s can be reached at (843) 881-4711.

Bull Street Gourmet & Market on King Street offers completely customizable baskets to fit your tastes and budget. Sandwiches run anywhere from $7 to $10, and they also offer fruit bowls for $5 and side salads for $4. As far as wine, they offer a range of both
domestic and international labels that start at $10. Call them at (843) 722-6464.
