Sanford - Congressman Mark Sanford reportedly got a cold reception (Politico) Friday during a speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition. After initially declining their invitation, Sanford reportedly got noticably less applause than others who spoke both before and after a 12-minute speech that was without any laugh lines or moments of levity.
Moultrie preservation - New technology, part of a $900k research arrangement (WaPo/AP) by the National Park Service and Clemson University will help preserve the Civil War-era guns (P&C) mounted at Fort Moultrie.
Boeing in Paris - Though Boeing Company officials are calling this week's Paris Air Show (P&C) "just one week out of 52," it's much more than that, as its competitors, including Airbus, unveil upcoming plans. South Carolina's Commerce delegation is smaller than last year's, but will still travel to Paris to be a part of the conference.
Town drunks - Some College of Charleston-area residents are asking the school (P&C) to do more to curb vandalism suspected to have been committed by drunk college students. City police officials say new bar rules will free up officers to be on the look-out for such incidents.
Google - The NSA surveillance story took on a local angle (NYT) over the weekend as major tech services companies like Google released information about how much and what kind of data the federal government requests that the company reports back from its data centers, like the one in Berkeley County.
N. Charleston growth - North Charleston could soon grow (P&C) by several thousand as a plan is debated to extend the city's reach into Dorchester County.
State budget - A Statehouse conference committee met Friday to hash out differences between House and Senate budget proposals, negotiating a compromise on road funding, 4K funding, and deciding against selling controversial state-owned aircraft.
Miss SC USA - 22-year old Megan Pinckney made it to the final group (State) in Sunday's Miss USA contest before finishing as the fifth runner-up.
