In an interview with the Post and Courier, Gov. Nikki Haley said that the experience of attending the nine funerals for each victim of the Emanuel AME Church shootings "have forever changed me." State elections officials announced last week that a special primary to fill the seat left vacant by S.C. Sen. Clementa Pinckney's murder at Mother Emanuel will be held on September 1 and the special election on October 20. Some candidates have begun declaring their intentions to enter the race. Charleston attorney Andrew Savage, who is representing Michael Slager, the former North Charleston cop accused of the murder of Walter Scott, says that he's asking state investigators why initial scans of the crime scene the day of the shooting were deleted and had to be redone. Private investigators working for Slager's case also said they found bullets missed by SLED agents at the scene, one of which was matched to Slager's pistol. Source: P&C
