It's warm February days like today that remind us that baseball season is just around the corner. It's appropriate then that the Charleston Riverdogs unveiled their 2016 season schedule on Tuesday.
As of today, there are just 65 days until the first pitch of 2016 on April 7. This season will be the 20th in the Joseph P. Riley Jr. Stadium, and the first without The Joe's namesake in office on Broad Street.
The Dogs' first game of the year will also be their first against the brand new Columbia Fireflies (formerly the Savannah Sand Gnats.) Personally, we're glad team leaders stuck with an insect as a mascot. At least the new one isn't a biter.
Tickets for regular season games go on sale on March 15, the front office tells us. If you're just dying to see the Riverdogs take the field before then, tickets are available now for a home exhibition game against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Opening Day Eve (April 6.)
Keep an eye out in the coming weeks as the Riverdogs unveil their special menu offerings for the 2016 season.
