An officer on scene has confirmed reports of a shooting on the pedestrian walkway of the Ravenel Bridge.

According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, the shooting involved two individuals. Police arrived on the scene around 8:45 p.m. Thursday evening. Based on their initial investigation, the incident does not appear to be a random shooting, and police do not believe a suspect is at large. Both individuals involved in the shooting have been transported to an area hospital.

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department announced on Twitter earlier in the evening that the northbound lanes of the bridge leading to Mt. Pleasant and the pedestrian walkway were closed as the Charleston Police Department worked an incident. All northbound lanes and the pedestrian walkway were reopened around 10:55 p.m., and officers have cleared the scene.
