Terrible news, everyone. The king tides are upon us.
The Charleston Police Department is warning motorists to exercise extreme caution over the weekend as rising tides could lead to washed out roads in flood-prone areas. Current predictions suggest that Charleston Harbor could see high tides approaching 8 feet Friday evening around 7:30 p.m. and Saturday evening around 8:20 p.m.
The potential for some flooding may last through Sunday, during which the National Weather Service is predicting the chance of rain to remain between 40-50 percent throughout the day. High tide on Sunday is expected to be reached around 8:50 a.m. and 9:15 p.m.
