Gov. Nikki Haley caught some flak last week over the use of her "Great day in South Carolina" mantra with state Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom saying that the use of the phrase by the governor in her official capacity could be confused with the use of the phrase in the "A Great Day SC" group, which Haley used to target state lawmakers in this month's Republican primaries. CCSD news over the weekend: P&C reporter Paul Bowers reports on the effect of $18 million in budget cuts which means "nearly every school district employee will be asked to do more with less." On Saturday, Bowers reported on the school board's shift toward using "special" meetings scheduled outside normal meeting times, sometimes with just 24-hours notice, to handle some major decisions this year.
