March for Science Charleston
Stepping outside of the sterile confines of their laboratories and the ordered chaos of the classroom, members of Charleston’s scientific community are set to take part in the March for Science demonstrations happening across the country.
Advocating for “robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity,” the core principles and goals for the April 22 march can be found on the official March for Science website
. In an effort to raise funds for the local effort, March for Science Charleston is accepting donations
to go toward permits, port-a-potties, security, clean-up, and marketing.
More details on the march taking place in Charleston are forthcoming, but any funds remaining after the event will be donated to the Lowcountry STEM Collaborative, which aims to promote STEM education and outreach in the area. In the meantime, all those interested in supporting March for Science Charleston can pick up an official T-shirt and bumper sticker here
