Charleston police arrested a suspect late last week believed to be connected to the string of racially charged vandalism in West Ashley. Cainin Milton, 19, was taken into custody last Thursday, charged with four counts of damage to real property, according to the Charleston Police Department.
Between Feb. 19 and March 13, police investigated multiple incidents involving racial slurs spray painted on property at Forest Park Playground, W.L. Stephens Aquatic Center, and the Cynthia Hurd Library.
According to an incident report, messages left at the W.L. Stephens Aquatic Center included “Fuck Yall White Devil,” “No Crackers Allowed,” as well as “Fuck Yall Wet Backs and Spics.” The other cases of vandalism reported included similar racial and homophobic slurs.
According to records from the Al Cannon Detention Center, Milton was released last Friday afternoon on $8,500 bond — $2,125 for each of the four counts.
