Blue Cross Blue Shield, the only health insurance company participating in the federal insurance marketplace in South Carolina, has come out against the latest Republican Obamacare repeal efforts co-authored by U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham. In a tweet yesterday, President Donald Trump said he supports the 'Graham-Cassidy' proposal and would not if it did not include coverage for pre-existing conditions, with Graham retweeting the president calling reports to the contrary "#FakeNews on steroids!" The bill would repeal several portions of the Affordable Care Act, including the individual mandate to carry health insurance and prohibitions against insurers raising premiums on people with pre-existing conditions. A group of education advocates including former school board member Elizabeth Moffly announced an online petition yesterday that has gathered more than 600 signatures calling for the firing of Charleston County Superintendent Gerrita Postlewait, saying that she has "caused chaos" and has "alienated teachers" in the district.
