Sen. Kamala Harris announced her 2020 presidential bid in her home state of California in January.
This weekend's Charleston Black Expo is filled to the brim with black-owned businesses, food, and a star-studded speaker panel.
Sen. Kamala Harris of California, who announced her bid for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination in January, will take the main stage on Saturday at 3:15 p.m at the Charleston Area Convention Center in North Charleston.
"Harris will talk about the importance of small and minority-owned businesses and meet with local community leaders," according to the senator's campaign.
This will be her third visit to South Carolina, an early primary state with a Democratic primary electorate that is 60 percent black.
Also on Saturday, actor Hill Harper of CSI: NY
and The Good Doctor
will speak from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Harper will host a book signing from 1 to 2 p.m.
Various seminars, such as "The 8 Steps to Starting a Business" and "Training to be a Food Truck Owner & Operator," will take place concurrently at rooms throughout the convention center.

. A budgeting workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. hosted by Tiffany "The Budgetnista" Aliche is $35. Those interested in any of the free seminars can enter the main Expo after the seminars are over.
"The purpose of the 2018 Economic Empowerment Weekend will provide an uninterrupted platform to educate, enlighten and empower the community," according to the Expo, which is also held in Columbia and the Upstate. "We are committed to remain focused on the established framework of our Black Expo history. The Economic Empowerment Weekend promises to promote economic development and increase exposure for minority owned businesses."
