If you and your family need to take shelter at a local spot, these places are currently open in the tri-county area. (Updated Wed. Sept. 4 @ 4:20 p.m.) For a full list of emergency shelters, check out scemd.org.

NOTE: Officials are making specific requests for those seeking shelter, please refer to the individual county pages for info on what you'll need to bring.

Berkeley County has four shelters open as of Wed. Sept. 4:



Cane Bay High School, 1624 State Road, Summerville (pet-friendly)
Westview Middle School, 101 Westview Blvd., Goose Creek
St. Stephen Elementary, 1053 Russelville Road, St Stephen
Berkeley Middle School, 320 N Live Oak Dr., Moncks Corner

Charleston County has four shelters open (all located in North Charleston):

Military Magnet Academy, 2950 Carner Ave.
Coastal Pre-Release Center, 3765 Leeds Ave. (pet-friendly)
R.B. Stall High School, 3625 Ashley Phosphate Road
Jerry Zucker Middle School, 6401 Dorchester Road

Dorchester County has a pet-friendly shelter now open at DuBose Middle School, 1005 DuBose School Road in Summerville.
