It just occurred to me that some might not know him by his name. But most know him by his face. Peter Lorre's was exceptionally memorable — bulgy eyes, prominent brow, reedy lips. And his voice, too. The picture of creepiness. The New York ensemble World Inferno Friendship Society puts on a rock cabaret tribute to Lorre for the Spoleto Festival. I'll post more in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, here's Lorre probably in his most famous role, as a seedy foreign smuggler in Casablanca.
