Nobody wants a wattle — you know, the thing that hangs off a turkey’s neck. They’re not sexy. But at Thanksgiving it’s hard to resist the delicious eats. Thankfully, there’s the Turkey Day Run and Gobble Wobble to help burn some calories before gorging yourself on turkey and sides. And it’s not just a race. It’s a charity event, festival, and holiday kickoff all rolled into one. Turkey Day Runs across the country have flocked together to try to reclaim the Guinness World Record for most participants in a multi-venue race. The 5K starts at Marion Square and runs down Meeting Street around the Battery and White Point Gardens before heading back up King to Marion Square. “The race was started to help raise funds in the local community and still serves that function today,” says Danielle Snider, marketing director for the run. “We are expecting to have over 10,000 in attendance including 7,000 runners.” Afterward, there’s a post-race party with beer to help you rehydrate with music supplied by Plane Jane.
