Key West is coming to Mt. Pleasant this weekend, when hundreds of Jimmy Buffet fans — otherwise known as parrotheads — will converge on Shem Creek for the Lowcountry Parrothead Club’s bar crawl fundraiser. “The Parrothead Club actually does more than just sit around and listen to Jimmy Buffet while sipping on margaritas. We spend a lot of time and effort supporting the Charleston community,” says Lowcountry Parrothead Club President Bill Cromer. The Mardi Crawl is one of their biggest annual efforts, with proceeds from the day benefiting several local charities including the S.C. Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and Pet Helpers. The party starts at Red’s Ice House, where participants can check in and receive their official Mardi Crawl badge and T-shirt. From there, the party moves through five other bars, all within walking distance. And if you’re still able to walk by 8 p.m., head back to Red’s for the after-party with live music by Homemade Wine.
