When: Sat., Nov. 26, 7 p.m. and Sun., Nov. 27, 4 p.m. 2011
I’m a Grinch when it comes to holiday music. I don’t know who allowed the pop industry to take over carol singing, but they have made shopping in department stores, watching network TV, and listening to the radio unbearable during this time of year. Our Christmas traditions deserve better. The Charleston Symphony Orchestra Spiritual Ensemble is restoring festive music to its rightful place this season with A Spiritual Christmas. The ensemble will perform a holiday-themed show of spirituals and sacred gospel songs rooted in African-American tradition. Paul Williamson, tenor and Jamaica native, will guest star in the performance led by Music Director Nathan L. Nelson. Williamson has spent most of his life in Canada, performing in operas like L’elisir d’amore and The Snow Maiden.
Price: $20/adults, $10/children and students
