The American Cancer Society (ACS) has literally gone to the dogs for their second annual Lowcountry Paws for a Cause event on Sat. April 24 at James Island County Park. You may not know this, but cancer is not just limited to humans. This event brings together canine cancer survivors and their dedicated owners to share their experiences.
The event features Walking for a Cure (a one-mile walk with your dog through James Island County Park), an adopt-a-dog parade, live music from Po’Ridge, and fun activities including a silent auction, face painting, a jump castle, doggie massages, doggie bubble baths, and much more. There will even be some wacky contests for human/dog teams including Best Kisser, Best Costume, Best Spirited Dog, Best Dancer, and more.
The event takes place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Dogs and their owners must register to attend, which costs $25 per person and $20 for students. Registration comes with a goodie bag including a bandana, a complimentary doggy bath, and a paw reading. For more information, call (843) 744-1922.
