Charleston Ballet Theatre takes us down the rabbit hole with Jill Eathorne Bahr’s colorful adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. The show will combine ballet, acrobatics, mime, and theater in an attempt to match the madness of the classic Lewis Carroll novel.
Favorite characters like the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, and of course Alice will make appearances, and we hear the costumes are going to be quite impressive — they’re being designed by the costume designer from Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet. “I have seen the White Rabbit costume and it is remarkable,” says CBT’s Kyle Barnette. T
here will be a Mad Hatter Tea Party following the Saturday matinee. Barnette notes that while the show is child-friendly, like the book and recent movie, it’s not just for kids. —Erica Jackson
