Allan Park Night

When: Wed., May 23, 5 p.m. 2012

Moe’s Crosstown is hosting a fundraiser that could potentially benefit every Charleston citizen. They are teaming up with the Hampton Park Terrace Neighborhood Association and the Charleston Parks Conservancy in an effort to bring beauty to the currently bleak Allan Park, located on Ashley Avenue. The restaurant will be offering a dinner special in which all proceeds will be donated to the Allan Park effort, and they’re sponsoring a $1 raffle at 9 p.m. Sweetwater Brewery has also donated a keg for the night to help raise funds for renovations. The proposed renovation plan includes new sodded areas, new shrub and floral plantings close to the rounded fountain, and groundcovers on the outskirts of the park. Staff and volunteers will be planting 1,000 plants. “The community has been very involved in the fundraising because people want to be able to enjoy the park,” says the event’s spokesperson Holly Fisher. “If you’ve been to Allan Park, you know it’s basically a fountain and some sparse grass, so this effort will be a tremendous benefit to the Charleston park system and the neighborhood.”
