An Evening with Jamey Whetstone

When: Thu., Jan. 22 2009

Local-boy-turned California winemaker Jamey Whetsone comes to town for a visit and to act as a guest sommelier at Atlanticville. Whetstone makes wines for his own wine cellars along with Manifesto!, a label he founded with Charlestonian Henri Gabriel of Advintage Fine Wine Distribution and two other partners. Manifesto! prides itself on crafting simple and drinkable Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc wines. At his own winery, Whetstone makes Pinot Noir and Syrah. Interstingly enough, Whetstone got his start driving a tractor and working his way up at Turley Wine Cellars, whose winemaker Ehren Jordan will be hosting a dinner at Charleston Grill the same night. Not a bad lineup for wine lovers. In addition to Atlanticville’s regular menu, Chef William Condon will have several specials created with Whetstone’s wines in mind. Tastings will be available along with a 10 percent discount on all of his bottles. Reservations are recommended. —Stephanie Barna
