Swedish-born, New Orleans-based guitarist and songwriter Anders Osborne returns to town with a well-oiled, high-energy power trio in support of their latest, Black Eye Galaxy. Recorded at Dockside Studio in Maurice, La., the new collection enhances Osborne’s reputation for fiery blues-rock chops and gritty soul singing. In a press release, the award-winning guitarist describes his album as “a harrowing but ultimately uplifting cycle of detailed songs that are musically and lyrically thought-provoking, exhilarating, and completely engaging.” That’s pretty accurate. The songs range from melodic soul ballads to raging, Southern-fried jam-outs. Lyrically, there are plenty of references to Osborne’s optimistic wanderlust and spiritual recovery. Folk/blues singer/guitarist Seth Stainback opens the show at 9 p.m.
