When: Sat., Nov. 3, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sun., Nov. 4, 1-5 p.m. 2012
Say goodbye to that soulless, mass-produced art from national chains. No one needs more of those Art Deco-era French ad posters. This weekend, you can pick up prints, photographs, and drawings by real, honest-to-goodness artists at prices that won’t make you cry. “I think this is a great opportunity for new collectors as well as seasoned collectors to come in and admire and acquire new art for their collection,” says Lasley Steever, the Gibbes Museum director of programs and events. Prices will begin around $50. The fair is part of the Charleston Fine Art Dealers Association Fine Arts Annual, which offers a full weekend of events including the CFADA Stroll, painting in the park, and curator-led tours within the Gibbes. If you feel like checking out the goods in advance, grab a ticket for the Rock, Scissors, Paper preview party Friday night (tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door).
