When: Fri., June 23, 7-10 p.m. 2017
Gain some insight into the mind of artist Nikki Scioscia during her 7:30 p.m. artist talk, followed by a Q&A, this Friday at the Southern Gallery. Scioscia's line work with black ink on paper features flora, fauna, and the female form and focuses on empowerment through the connections between humanity and nature. At 8:15 p.m., Scioscia will lead a drum meditation and discuss the New Moon in Cancer. New Moon Ceremonies are focused on meditation, connecting with nature, and setting personal goals for the month ahead. “First you can learn about my artwork, and then by participating in the ceremony you become part of the art yourself,” says Scioscia. “Cancer, a water sign, is related to emotions and signifies a time for nurturing.” Before the talk at 7:30, guests are encouraged to bring contributions for a community altar, a collaborative art installation. The exhibit runs until July 2.
