Beatles, Bach, and Beer with Laura Ball & Friends

When: Sat., Sept. 13, 7 p.m. 2014

What do John Lennon and Johann Sebastian Bach have in common — other than great hair, wig or not ? Oh, just the ability to compose world-renowned works that remain relevant decades (centuries in Bach’s case) after their passing. At this year’s Beatles, Bach, and Beer event, attendees will hear a mash-up of classic Beatles hits and Bach’s classical compositions via an eclectic mix of pianos, banjos, saxophones, and mandolins. Laura Ball performs with her friends from The Hungry Monks (John Holenko and Hazel Ketchum), Jonathan Kammer, and Johnny Gray. This year’s mash-ups center around a specific theme. “The whole set will be geared toward women,” says Ball. “We’ll be playing all your favorite —what I like to call — chick tunes, like ‘Dear Prudence’ and ‘Lucy.’” Charleston Music Hall will provide craft beer throughout the show. Beatles, Bach, and Beer is a part of UNED!TED’s Season V concert series. UNED!TED, a non-profit arts organization, and Laura Ball share the same mission which is to integrate art, culture, and community through concerts, programs, and collaborative music and art projects.
