Burgers, beer, and honky-tonk – the most American combination since red, white, and blue. Funky Little Kitchen in Awendaw will host the Burger and Beer Tasting for a day of live music, burgers, and locally brewed beer. Sample hamburger sliders ($2 each) from Coleman Public House, Finz, 17 North, Sesame Burgers and Beer, and Eurasia to see who the real burger king is. Wash ‘em down with locally brewed beer ($3) from Holy City, Palmetto Brewing Company, COAST, and Westbrook. Two stages will be set up out back on the old Kickin’ Horse Saloon lot — one for acoustic acts, and another for full ensembles. Be sure to catch Sandy Ray and the Cold Shoulders on the main stage, a honky-tonk Americana band that’s making its way from Greenville, Tenn. Their breezy harmonies and banjo strumming should make for a nice afternoon lounging in the grass. Later, Disco Demolition Knights will get everyone on their feet with a rocking set of folky blues. If you’re into Tom Petty, you might want to head to the acoustic stage for John Brannen, a solo acoustic artist who recently wrote a song for the Eagles’ newest album. For the full line-up, see Funky Little Kitchen’s Facebook page. Tickets can be purchased for $20 at the door. Proceeds will be donated to MUSC for autism research.
