In Charleston, there are plenty of places to get finger-lickin’-good fried chicken, but only one place is the cheapest: Ike’s Hot Chicken, Fish, and More. The homey soul food spot opened up next door to Hello My Name is BBQ back in November, and when we stopped by, we were shocked at the low prices on the menu. You can get two pieces of sizzling fried chicken (light or dark meat) with one side for just $2.99. The sides change daily — recently they offered three kinds of rice, macaroni and cheese, okra soup, lima beans, hoppin’ john, and rutabaga — but the chicken is always the same: hot, fresh, and tasty. Of course, they’ve got a lot more on the menu, including breakfast, plus a clean, spacious dining room, deck seating, and friendly service.
