If I had to pick a costume for Track-or-Treat, a local Halloween-themed alleycat bike race, I guess the obvious choice would be the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz. Since I'm a girl and all. But I think I'd go for Elliott from E.T. — then all I'd need is a red hoodie. This year, about 30 riders, wearing everything from wigs to Spiderman suits, participated in the race, traveling from the Recovery Room to official checkpoints all over Charleston. The whole thing culminated in a party at the pedicab shed/Holy City Bike Co-op space. Frankly, I don't think my thrift store clunker of a bike could have handled it. Oh well. There's always next year. Just don't steal my costume idea.
