If you haven’t noticed, each time a store closes on King Street a national chain takes its place. You can count on one hand the number of locally owned retailers between Calhoun and Market (the hot bed of King Street retail). In that select group is Worthwhile. Robben Richards opened Worthwhile in 1993 and has held her own very well against the numerous big biz bozos. Part of Robben’s success is that she stays focused on the unique and serves her customers personally. The shelves may be sparse, but they are loaded with some of the most unique things you will ever see. For standing shoulder to shoulder with these corporate clowns for more than 20 years, we dub Robben: the Queen of King.
