Best Beer Release Party

Barrel-aged Mexican Cake at Westbrook Brewing Company

Staff Pick

When it comes to hyped-up beer releases, there's no clowning around. A lot of bad can happen, so breweries have to be prepared. When Westbrook released Mexican Cake in 2011, they had no idea the thick, spicy stout would become a highly sought after beer, but when it was time to release three barrel-aged versions of the same beer in 2013, they knew that if they aged it, people would come. And come they did, from many states near and far. In preparation, limits were made, all hands were on deck, tickets were handed out in advance, and there was no mass hysteria. A plethora of good beer was being poured and food trucks fed the crowds. A job well done
