Dock Street Theatre

According to Charleston Stage, the Dock Street opened in February 1736 with a play called The Recruiting Officer. The theater has been through a lot since then, including burning to the ground in the Great Fire of 1740. Most recently, the Dock Street reopened in 2010 after receiving a $19 million renovation courtesy of the City of Charleston. These days, the stage is home to some more modern fare, including last year's production of Boeing-Boeing.
