Known by friends, colleagues, and loyal customers as a super-cool bartender and restaurant manager with a killer handlebar mustache, Folly Beach City Council candidate Lewis Dodson is truly a funky dude. He can usually be found behind the counter (or on a band's microphone) at the Drop In Deli on Folly Beach, but last fall, he got the uncontrollable urge to run for public office — specifically, the seat vacated by Laura Dukes Beck. His slogan, "Keep Folly Beach Funky," became the hippest motto on the island. He earned 12 funky percentage points in November —not enough to win, but enough to make his mark.
