Best Chance for Rainbow Row Puns

Charleston Pride Festival Moves Downtown

Staff Pick

For its first three years, the Charleston Pride parade actually took place in Park Circle, not Charleston. After the 2012 festival, the event's organizers sent out a survey to participants and found out 75 percent of them wanted to see it take place downtown. So last year, for the first time, Charleston's LGBT community paraded down King Street with rainbow flags flying. In a city that hasn't always been a bastion of acceptance, the move downtown felt like a big step into the mainstream for Pride.
