We never really understood how anyone could justify calling Upper King the Upper King Design District. After all, wouldn't that mean that it was actually home to people who, well, designed stuff? Instead, there were a few home decor shops and not much else but a dream to transform one of the area's best dining and drinking strips into something other than what it was: a place to eat and get drunk. Well, at some point the powers that be realized the error of their ways — or at the very least Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr. did. Now Joe has taken to calling it the "Upper King Street entertainment district." That works for us, although we'd prefer to just call it home. Yo, bartender, how about another round? Put it on Riley's tab.
