Best Fests that Won’t Quit

Folly Beach Festivals

Staff Pick

Last year, some Folly Beach residents’ complaints about public intoxication and other unseemly activities prompted City Council to review the FollyGras festival, held every year around Mardi Gras. The topic opened up discussion about the city’s other street festivals, which close down Center Street’s commercial district for vendors, parades, and general good times. While the concerns led to at least one change — January’s Taste of Folly required drinkers (over 21, of course) to buy $1 wristbands so that they could legally drink in the street — the fests keep on comin’. Head to Folly Beach Sand & Sea Festival on Fri. April 9.
