Graffiti is one of those things. Some love it. Some hate it. For some, it's style. Others, it's anarchy. There isn't much in-between. Until now. Thanks to new technologies, a middle way is possible. The nerds at Street Level Lab have been experimenting with a new kind of computer software that makes graffiti disappear when you're gone. No damage. Nothing illegal. Just the pleasure of leaving your mark without the consequences of destroying private property. It's called laser tagging. You need a computer, light projector, and a laser pointer. Street Level got the idea from the Graffiti Research Lab in New York. They borrowed the software, but rewrote it for their own purposes. Along with another group called Spaced Invaders, they are changing the way Charleston thinks about graffiti. Even city officials have seen the light. Street Level is set for this year's Piccolo Spoleto. Long live the tag!
