SCOOP opened in 2009 and quickly established itself as a big player in Charleston’s contemporary arts scene. Owners Angel Powell and Colleen Deihl have kept a regularly rotating selection of artists in the gallery — folks like Karen Ann Myers, Julio Cotto, Brian Bustos, Scoot Debus, Ben Timpson, and most recently, Bill Mead. Their openings are always a big draw during Art Walks, because you can always count on a lively crowd, potent punch, and if you’re lucky, candy. Not to mention some of the freshest art on Broad Street.
