When I met The Fix.fm co-founder Brad Cooper last year, it was late at night at the station. He was always there at TheFix.fm/Kinetic HiFi headquarters — morning, afternoon, and into the wee hours. It was his life. Brad’s love of all things radio was overwhelming. It’s not just the music that Brad was crazy about but the people who created it. His desire to nurture the Charleston music scene through radio was infectious, spreading to the volunteer DJs he took under his wing — the same DJs who still work tirelessly to keep Brad’s baby, TheFix.fm, going strong. On July 4 last year, the 22-year-old visionary was killed in a car accident, and a still-heartbroken community continues to carry a torch. Because Brad didn’t just have the best heart for radio, he had the best heart — period.
