When it was announced that rappers Big Boi (of OutKast fame) and Busta Rhymes (a.k.a. Trevor Smith) to town in July for a concert at the Gaillard, it seemed almost too good to be true. Unfortunately for local hip-hop fans, it was. Management at the Gaillard called off the Sunday evening concert late in the afternoon, just hours before show time. One explanation claimed it was due to slow ticket sales. City Paper heard word of a major lack in production preparation (P.A. and stage lights) and basic organization efforts as well. Intern Lucas Hagerty showed up at the Gaillard at 7 p.m. that night and witnessed hip-hop artists' handlers trying to secure an alternate venue. By 8 p.m., Big Boi and Busta were outta there.
