Located across from the Highway 17 off-ramp on Meeting Street, Outer Space is a hipster hangout with high hopes. The volunteer-run, donation-funded organization opened in December with the goal of providing a community space for all of Charleston’s creatives. And while the demographic might seem a bit lacking in diversity at this point, it’s not for lack of trying by the organizers, who say they truly want to avoid the cliquey artist stereotype. So far they’re offering things like free bike workshops, yoga classes, experimental music performances, and art exhibits. Hopefully, more people will discover them.
