Best Italian Dinner Made by Nonna

Butcher & Bee Pop-Up

Staff Pick

If you missed Ann Albano’s dinner at Butcher & Bee last October, don’t expect to get another chance. The 85-year-old grandmother was coaxed into cooking a pop-up dinner at Butcher & Bee by her granddaughter who knew Nonna’s food would find an appreciative audience. But doing such a big production really stressed Nonna out. During the lead-up, her husband Joe ended up at the hospital and worrying about a dinner on top of his health problems proved to be a real challenge. In the end, though, the dinner was delightful. The Albano family rallied around and helped Ann cook and serve big delicious bowls of spaghetti and meatballs, an astounding eggplant parmesan, and platters of chicken parm. She loves to cook and it showed. We’re thankful to the Albanos for sharing this special lady with the rest of us.
