There’s no group we’d rather hear crooning around a campfire than Charleston’s award-winning Ranky Tanky. The band blends Gullah traditions with gospel vocals, jazz trumpet solos, and an R&B rhythm, and they’re starting to get the recognition they deserve. The group’s debut hit No. 1 on the Bilboard Jazz Charts twice this year.
Runner-up: Charleston Jazz Orchestra
