Charleston Community Acupuncture’s Chad Houfek has been offering sliding scale acupuncture services since the place first opened, back in 2009. Community Acupuncture has been taking home the Best Acupuncturist award since 2013, and for good reason.
First of all, that sliding scale is awesome. Depending on how much you can afford, you can choose what amount of money to pay for your acupuncture. If you’re a newbie and totally intimidated by the prospect of little tiny needles sticking you, you’re not alone. Houfek gets that and is happy to calm your nerves with a free, introductory consultation. He’ll ask you where your aches and pains are and make sure you know exactly what’s happening throughout the process. We know, we’ve been there. And we felt so great after. As Houfek told us last year for a feature story on the topic of self-care: “I think that if more people educate themselves and take responsibility for their health, and putting their money where their health is, then we might see a healthier shift in our society.” - Connelly Hardaway
