is one of those public access TV gems: simple, straightforward, and just barely under-the-radar. Filmed on Tuesday evenings in the no-frills Royal American bar, the show broadcasts performances of local bands as well as touring ones that blow through Charleston. Like the king of public TV music shows, Austin City Limits, the focus is completely on the musicians — there’s no awkwardly peppy interviewer or even cutaways to the rapt audience. Speaking of audiences, this show’s free no matter where you’re watching it, whether that’s live in the bar or at home on the boob tube. It’s skewed a little more toward the indie, folk, and Americana sets; recent Eclectic Evenings performers have included Lindsay Holler’s Matadero and Jamisun. The show airs at 7:30 p.m. Fridays on Comcast’s C2 channel, but to catch it live, head down Morrison Drive to the Royal American on Tuesdays for the 45-minute performances.
