Did you know that Fox Music House is the nation’s oldest Yamaha piano dealer? Also the largest piano store in the Southeast, Fox has been a part of the local music community since 1928, featuring everything from organs and keyboards to backline rentals and audio/visual production. That’s why the store is one of the top 100 instrument dealers around the globe, according to the National Association for Music Merchants.
After its humble beginnings on King Street followed by various relocations, Fox settled into a new space four months ago on Dorchester Road. Here, the family-run shop continues to serve the scene, offering a dedicated recital area, classroom, recording studio, and repair area. “We pour a lot into creating a musical community in Charleston,” says general manager Joseph Fox, “and are proud that this is a top destination for musicians. Voters have spoken/sung loudly that music is important to them.” —Kelly Rae Smith
