When the old KFC at the corner of Highways 17 and 41 shut down, folks on the north side of Mt. P were cut off from a regular source of tater bowls and popcorn chicken. Then Skarney's moved into the empty building and made everything better. This ain't one of those high-falutin' gourmet places that serve their burgers on brioche buns with fried green tomatoes or powdered unicorn horn on top. It's a straight-up old-fashioned burger, fries, and milkshake joint. The burgers are made from fresh beef, put on a flat, toasted bun, and wrapped in plain waxed paper. And a combo with fresh cut fries and a drink will run you under six bucks. So long, Colonel.
