Amazingly, there’s a lot of competition in this category this year with the new Midtown Grill and Henry’s revamped space, but we’ve got to give it to Mellow because these guys have been fighting for years to get this patio built. In order to expand their seating space, they needed to get a parking variance, which was denied several times due to the protests of a neighboring building’s owner. But then, a stroke of genius occurred. Mellow’s owners struck a deal with the owner of the new parking garage on George Street and leased enough spaces to get around the need for a parking variance. Deal done. It took a while, but they finally revealed their new rooftop patio in the fall, and it is everything they knew it could be. Spacious, comfy, and cool — just like the rest of Mellow. Good job, guys.
