Best New Record Store

The Vinyl Countdown

Staff Pick

Ever since 52.5 Records closed its King Street shop six years ago, downtown music lovers have been hurtin’ for a vinyl source within walking or biking distance. Enter the Vinyl Countdown. After gauging the interest in a new record store through an Indiegogo campaign, owner Aaron Levy began putting a plan in place and officially opened for business last fall. Since then, the King Street store has had numerous in-store performances, started giving instrument lessons, and in January began donating $1,000 to a different local charity every month. Pair all that with lots of reasonably priced new, used, and local records, and, well, that’s the best. —Kelly Rae Smith
